About the Artist

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Marilyn Kimberly-Kae Inwaldson Poulsen. I am a Freelance Graphic Designer. I was born in Crosby, North Dakota, and even though my family relocated in Montana when I was a teenager, North Dakota has always been in my heart. After high school, my university education continued in Montana, then Alabama, Tennessee, and Australia.

In my watercolors, I try to reflect all those unusual and unique things either from around the farm or when something catches my eye while walking or driving through a ghost town or rural community, visiting a museum, antique store, park, or an old abandon homestead. My goal is to provide stunning detail and brilliant contrasts for vibrant watercolors. I create art that intrigues me personally, and hope you will be intrigued as well.

My artwork has been sold in several silent or live Ducks Unlimited auctions, and I have donated many original oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings to charitable foundations, military functions, church fundraisers, art shows and festivals, and to the Chamber of Commerce. My artwork can be found in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia.

As a Freelance Graphic Designer, I have designed, created, and published many newspaper ads, logos and articles for magazines. In addition, I am illustrating a children's story book, and designing several coloring books - one portraying North Dakota's flora and fauna; another is a children's guide to common minerals within North Dakota and Montana.

My hobbies include digging and collecting sapphires, garnets, quartz crystals, agates and panning for gold, collecting Norwegian Dowry Chests and Art Deco furniture, attending estate sales or antique auctions searching for overlooked treasures. I also like reading about North Dakota, Montana, Norway and Australia, their art, language, culture, geology and history.
